Job Introduction

We are looking for a part time Site Supervisor/Handyperson to join our Newcastle Family Hub Team, based at our Maryhill site.

This role is for 5 hours per week:

Monday - Thursday 7.30-8.00am and 4.30 – 5.00pm
Friday 7.30-8.00am and 4.00-4.30pm. 

You will need to commit to the core hours outlined above but be willing to work flexibly to suit the needs of our service.  Emergency call out also forms part of the role.

Main Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Opening and closing of the building on occasions across both sites
  • Building health and safety such as undertaking checks and completing relevant documents e.g. water safety checks, testing of fire alarms and emergency lighting systems
  • Maintaining high standards both within the building and to the external site
  • Managing contractors to ensure compliance with centre safety policies and ensuring acceptable work standard, including completion of contractor's risk assessments.
  • Responsible for maintaining and implementing a Centre Maintenance Programme to ensure all areas are fit for purpose and to a high standard of repair. This includes but is not limited to, gardening, decoration, plumbing, joinery and minor electrical work within the competence of the individual  .
  • Arrangement of disposal of such waste material arising from the use of the premises which is not covered by alternative arrangements
  • Covering emergency call outs to site when required.

  • Have experience working as a caretaker or in premises maintenance
  • Be Flexible
  • A Team player
  • Willing to attend training as required
  • Have excellent attention to detail and pride in their work
